Notes on the Shoot: Took over 500 photographs, of which 103 of them truly sucked, the rest I had to troll through and decide which to post here, because let's face it, if I uploaded over 300 photographs to DeviantArt I think those subscribed to me would murder me XD But for those of you that DO want to see all 387 of them, just click on the link below to go to my Flickr page :D

I decided to shoot the evening 'documentary' style, so rather than going up to people and asking for posed photographs I just clicked away, I didn't really go to this event JUST to go, the main reason I went was for my photography project that I am doing on cosplay and this seemed like the perfect event for just that. I wanted to show just how much fun people have when coming together in cosplay and kinda demolish all stereotypes or assumptions about cosplayers that some un-knowledgeable or biased people make. The point of the project is to show something as a community through the idea that 'seeing is believing', just because you see, doesn't mean everything you see is what you can believe or what is assume is actually what is true, I wanted to show that about the cosplay community and I must say... I don't think I did too badly XD

I could have photographed better {had I been better prepared, as it was I had no external flash, I had to use the one attached to my camera and did I have to use the lens that came with my camera XD so poor lighting and no that much zoom ¬.¬;;} and more bravely if I only I had consumed many, many cocktails beforehand but being the sober person that I was I didn't have the balls to take more daring photographs XD

And for the most part of the evening I decided to shoot in black and white, why? Because I'm not often very fond of colour, completely depends on the subject matter and for me, the colour just wasn't producing the look I was going for, but turning to black and white I finally began producing photographs that appealed to me. I wanted to focus on the community feel, I wanted the photographs to look chique, almost like a 1920's - 1950's shindig and I think I accomplished that, which still pleases me greatly XD

Comments: The Grand International Cosplay Ball in the Clapham Grand was fantastic, it truly can only be summed up in one word. EPIC. While I myself didn't do any dancing {for I was photographing everyone else the entire way} I still had a great time and I could tell everyone else was too :D Kudos to the women who put this all together! For the first ever 'Grand International Cosplay Ball' it truly was without flaw, sure it could have been held on a Saturday, but getting such a venue on such a busy day isn't always possible and while I had to leave at 11:40pm to catch my train home I still came out with a huge smile on my face, it was defo worth the money. The guest line up was great, especially CanaDark, the fire and poi performer, now his is a performance I won't be forgetting soon XD
